Employee representatives

As the Works Council, we have the important task of representing employees’ interests vis-à-vis the employer. We ensure that all applicable laws, regulations, safety regulations, collective agreements and works agreements are complied with to safeguard employees’ rights. We champion employees’ interests and work closely with management to find fair solutions that are in everyone’s best interests. In doing so, we are committed to fair working conditions, fair pay, health and safety, and ensuring a positive and respectful work environment at the Palast.

The Palast is a special place where people of countless different nationalities work together and share their passion for breathtaking shows. Cultural diversity and creative collaboration are at the heart of everything we do here. The different perspectives, skills and traditions of our staff contribute to the unique and inspiring atmosphere.

Close collaboration between the various trades and departments is crucial to the success of our complex productions, such as the Grand Shows and Young Shows. Each team member brings their strengths and expertise to help us achieve our shared goals. Communication, teamwork and mutual respect are key. At the Palast, effective cooperation and communication across all areas are essential to achieve the best possible results.

As the Youth and Trainee Representatives, we advocate for the rights of trainees at the Palast in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. We also provide advice and support on all training-related matters. We ensure that the Palast trains the skilled workers of tomorrow to a high standard today.

Our day-to-day work involves attending Works Council meetings and upholding the rights of our trainees – for example, to ensure they are taken into account in works agreements and the like. We are also responsible for organising initiatives, such as Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day.

We work with many people at the Palast, all of whom bring a variety of interests and skills to the table. Through this collaboration, colleagues often become lifelong friends. And this is not the only thing that makes the Palast such a unique place to work. As a revue theatre, the Palast itself is renowned for its original productions. Our shows run continuously, meaning that Grand Shows always run for two years before the next show makes its debut. We also have a junges Ensemble (Young Ensemble), which comprises more than 200 children, who perform a Young Show every year during the winter season. The costumes and stage sets made right here in the Palast workshops are another highlight.

As the Orchestra Board, we are responsible for representing the interests of the members of the orchestra vis-à-vis the musical director and theatre management. We actively foster a good working atmosphere within the orchestra and ensure that our colleagues are treated fairly. Our role also involves addressing potential issues at an early stage so that they do not escalate into major problems. We meet regularly with the management team for “Jours Fixes” to this end and work to find solutions together and to optimise the day-to-day working life of show band members. In collaboration with our Music Director, we thus ensure smooth operations and a harmonious work environment.

The Palast is truly unique. As a theatre dedicated to original productions, it is one of a kind in its genre. This exclusive form of theatre only exists here. We particularly value the sense of camaraderie that extends beyond departmental boundaries.

Three dancers represent the interests of our ballet ensemble here at the Palast. As the Ballet Representatives, we help to facilitate communication between theatre management and the ensemble as well as with other departments. We also assist our fellow dancers with any questions or concerns they may have and support them as needed.

We perform on the world’s biggest theatre stage and feel the audience’s enthusiasm every single evening, filling the theatre with its special charm. As the dancers in our ballet ensemble hail from all around the globe, we actively promote open and respectful communication. Given the many different languages and cultures within the ballet, this requires special effort and consideration – and that is precisely what makes our team spirit so strong. We all grew up somewhere different in the world, but have all found our home here in Berlin.

Those who apply to the Palast have the unique opportunity to perform five to eight times per week, further their training in classical ballet and perform a wide variety of dance styles.
